Homemade Potato Salad

Being able to serve great tasting homemade potato salad means you don’t have to go to a fancy restaurant whenever the urge to eat one grabs you. Fortunately, the preparation process is very easy to follow.

Potato Salad with Peas


Red potatoes (2 lbs, cooked)
Carrot (1 cup)
Thawed peas (one 10 oz pack)
3 eggs (cooked)
Seasonings: 1/3 cup each of onions, peppers (red, green and yellow) and celery

For the dressing:

Half a cup of mayonnaise or more
Half a cup of heavy cream
Mustard (2 tbsp)
A little salt and pepper


Combine the seasonings with the eggs and peas in a bowl. Pour in the mayonnaise and cream. Next, add the mustard to this homemade potato salad. Toss it to combine the flavors. Add the pepper. Sprinkle some salt. Add the parsley, lettuce and tomatoes. Put in more potatoes if desired.

Potato Salad with Bacon


Black pepper (1/2 tsp)
Salt (1/2 tsp)
Bacon (8 slices)
Onion (half a cup)
Sliced potatoes (3 pieces)
Olive oil (1/3 cup)
Green beans (2 cups)
Garlic powder
Vinegar (1/2 cup)


Remove skin from potatoes. Slice to about 1/4 inches thick. Place them in a saucepan. Put water in it. Cover and boil for five minutes. Put in the beans and add more water. Boil again for 8 minutes. Cook the bacon and put it aside for now.

Put some of the bacon drippings in a bowl. Add olive oil in it too. Put on some vinegar and salt in this homemade potato salad. Spray some garlic powder. Add in the vegetables. Take the bacon and crush it over this mix. Add more seasonings if necessary. This should be served only at room temperature.

Potato Salad with Cucumber


Potatoes (5 lbs, cooked)
5 eggs (cooked)
½ cup of onions and celery, both chopped
A cup of cucumber
A cup of tomatoes (sliced thin)
For the dressing:
Mayonnaise (a cup or more)
Mustard (2 tbsp)


Combine the celery and onions with the eggs. Add the potatoes too. Put some of the mayonnaise in the mixture. Add a little of the mustard while you stir this homemade potato salad. Keep adding as much mustard as you like. Put some pepper and salt until you get the taste you want. Put the tomatoes and cucumber on top of the salad.

Potato Salad with Ham


Potatoes (3 lbs)
Vinegar (1/3 cup)
Ham (4 slices)
Seasonings: ¼ tbsp of celery, basil, salt and various peppers
1/3 cup of water


Combine the water and salt. Cook the potatoes there. Cook the bacon in a frying pan. Add the onions and peppers to it. Add some vinegar and water to the frying pan. Sprinkle some salt and pepper. Add in the potatoes. Let it simmer on low heat for 12 minutes.

The ingredients for these homemade potato salad recipes aren’t etched in stone. Add other seasonings or other vegetables. Pretty soon, you’ll be having as much fun preparing the ingredients as in eating them.
